Judgement

Posted by Beth on January 17, 2012

I started thinking about judgement today I finally got it.  I've come close on several occasions, but I finally got why God has told us not to judge. The reason is simple, yet most of us never fully understand. Since we don't understand why, we choose to continue to judge in spite of God's will. It's what we know. It's as comfortable as our favorite pair of shoes.

Truth Versus Tradition

Posted by Beth on December 31, 2011

There are many christians who are so caught up in the traditions of the church that it is difficult for them to see biblical truth.  Not every tradition is bad. In 2 Thessalonians 2:13 it says "Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle." The traditions referred to are the ones taught by God's word. An example of a bad tradition is the sinful trap of holier than thou judgment. Believing in Jesus does not make anyone better than others.  However, if you visit many of the churches in America today, many in the congregation will sit in judgement coming up will a myriad od reasons you do not deserve salvation. Guess what, neither do they.

Christmas Gifts

Posted by Beth on December 24, 2011

Christmas is one of the best holidays. It's a time when family and friends get together and celebrate last of the year. Much like New Year's Eve they reminisce about the many good times from christmas's past. They also do a lot of gift giving.  There is nothing wrong with giving gifts, afterall the whole idea of came from God Himself. He gave us the greatest gift that started the christmas holiday, His Son.

Christian Authors

I don't read much today. I used to be an avid reader, and many in the church would ban me from heaven for saying that Stephen King is still my favorite author. The problem with reading today is trying to find books that are easy to read.  I do not mean books that do not have me think, but books that are easy to follow and actually get to the point of the matter instead of having endless pages and chapters that have nothing to do with what the book should be about.
