Christmas Gifts
Christmas is one of the best holidays. It's a time when family and friends get together and celebrate last of the year. Much like New Year's Eve they reminisce about the many good times from christmas's past. They also do a lot of gift giving. There is nothing wrong with giving gifts, afterall the whole idea of came from God Himself. He gave us the greatest gift that started the christmas holiday, His Son.
However, over the decades and centuries people have, like many things, perverted the idea of gifts at christmas time. They made their gifts the most important thing about the season. Many go into massive debt simply to top what they have given in previous years. For most people in this boat, they only give so they may receive all of the recognition. Most American have forgotten this very simple thing - you cannot outgive God.
God didn't just send His Son that everyone may have eternal life. He could have choosen many other ways to achieve this purpose. He also sent Jesus to change the world. In His brief time on earth Jesus fulfill countless prophecies, heal many of the disease ridden, and evey raise the dead. The gift given in Jesus can never be outdone by anyone here earth. Nothing is greater than Jesus Himself. He's better than any flat screen tv, new clothes, jewelry or anything else on your list. He is life itself.
When you are opening your gifts Christmas morning, remember, there is something better. Clothes can be eaten by moths, jewelry and electronics broken, but Jesus will never change, never rot to pieces, never break. He will always be the Son of God and the Saviour of us all. He was born to be our Saviour.
In His 33 years on the planet, Jesus became one of the most loved men to have lived. He is still loved today. Jesus was a gift NONE of us deserved and was sent so that everyone will have a chance to be redeemed. We all can be redeemed as long as we open our hearts to Him and accept Him as our Saviour.
