Judgement
I started thinking about judgement today I finally got it. I've come close on several occasions, but I finally got why God has told us not to judge. The reason is simple, yet most of us never fully understand. Since we don't understand why, we choose to continue to judge in spite of God's will. It's what we know. It's as comfortable as our favorite pair of shoes.
In Matthew 7:1 God instructs "Judge not, that you not be judged." He also says in Matthew 7:3 "And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?" He instructs us to not be judgemental because He, being God, understands that when we are judging someone we are going against one of His greatest commandments. We are not being loving. We are telling whoever we are judging that they are not loveable by us. We are also telling them, they are not loveable by God. In John 15:17 it says "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you." Love is the single greatest thing we can give to someone else. Love shows that no matter how much someone has seemingly failed, they are still acceptable, by us and God.
This entry is short and sweet. Stop judging and start loving. You will feel so much better about life and you will be getting closer to being the person God wants you to be.
